“Many Hands, Many Hearts, One Intention”
The time to ACT is now!
ACT is a way
to encourage people in the yoga and healing community to get
ACTively involved in being a positive influence in their community.
Seasonal volunteer opportunities are planned around the Kansas City
metro area so that we may serve in the true spirit of karma yoga –
the yoga of selfless service through action. The healing of the
planet begins at home. We can only Awaken Change Together! We must
ACT now!
ACT’s Fall 2007 Karma Crew Project: Harvesters Needs Our Help Hunger erodes the body and mind and wears away at our community. Children struggle to concentrate in school. Parents make desperate choices to put food on the table. Seniors compromise their already fragile health. Harvesters is our community’s response to hunger, providing sustenance and hope to those in need. You can help by joining us to sort food and household goods collected from food drives and donated by the food industry. Spend an afternoon working side-by-side with other members of the yoga community in the true spirit of karma yoga. Bring friends, family and kids. Sunday, November 18, 2007 1:30 - 4:00 p.m. Harvesters Volunteer Center, 3801 Topping Ave., KCMO Map: http://tinyurl.com/2qovh5 To join this Karma Crew: email Becky Holsen at Becky0303@aol.com
Our Mission ACT’s intention is to:
How ACT works
Each season,
several local yoga teachers or students will volunteer to be on the
organizing team for that season’s volunteer opportunity. Each team
member will research potential volunteer
projects around the city, then after sharing findings with the
group, the team will agree on which project to pursue.
“Because we all share this planet earth, we have to learn to live in harmony and peace with each other and with nature. That is not just a dream, but a necessity. We are dependent on each other in so many ways that we can no longer live in isolated communities and ignore what is happening outside those communities.” ~ His Holiness the Dalai Lama
"How
wonderful that no one need wait a single moment to improve the
world."
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service
of others.”
